Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
This policy explains how the WHB app and service (“WHB”, “we”, “us”) collect, use and protect your information. WHB is for adults aged 18 and over. Contact us any time at [email protected].
1. Information we collect
- Account and profile: email address, username, password (stored only as a secure hash), date of birth, country/region, gender, profile text and photos, and optional profile details you choose to add (for example height, relationship status, languages, partner details for couple profiles).
- Personals: the content of the personals you post (title, text, photos, what you are looking for).
- Messages: messages and photos you send and receive in chats, and read/delivery status.
- Your settings: who can message you, notification preferences, blocked members, favorites, and whether sensitive photos are shown.
- Activity: profile views (if you use “who viewed you”), votes, reports you submit, and when you were last active (used for the online indicator).
- Device and technical data: IP address, device type, operating system, app version, a push notification token for your device, and diagnostic/crash data used to fix problems.
We do not collect precise GPS location or contacts.
Ads
The app shows ads between personals (members with a supporter subscription don't see them). Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may use your device's advertising ID and IP address to show and measure ads and, where you allow it, to personalise them. In the EU/UK you are asked for consent first and can change your choice later. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We don't share your profile, messages or photos with advertisers.
2. Camera and photos
The app asks for access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to add a photo to your profile, a personal or a message. Only the photos you pick are uploaded.
3. How we use your information
- To run the service: create your account, show your profile and personals to other members, deliver messages and notifications.
- To keep members safe: verify age eligibility, prevent spam, scams and abuse, act on reports, and enforce our Terms. This includes automated screening of new accounts, profiles and messages for scam and spam patterns.
- To respect your choices: apply your “who can message me” rules, blocks and notification settings.
- To support you and to fix and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information. Ad partners only receive what's described under “Ads” above.
4. What other members see
Your username, profile, photos and personals are visible to other signed-in members, as the service is designed. Your email address, date of birth (only your age is shown), IP address and settings are never shown to other members. Messages are visible only to you and the person you are chatting with, and to our moderators when needed to investigate a report or abuse.
5. Service providers
We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf, only to provide the service: hosting and network security (including Cloudflare), email delivery, push notification delivery (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, Apple Push Notification service, and Expo’s push service), advertising (Google AdMob) and crash reporting. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our members or others.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to member data is limited to the people who need it to run and moderate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app (see Delete your account). When an account is deleted, its data is removed from our live systems straight away and from encrypted backups within 15 days.
If an account was removed for breaking our Terms, we keep a one-way cryptographic hash of its email address and username (which cannot be turned back into the original values) only to stop the same person signing up again, and we keep limited moderation and security records where needed to prevent fraud and abuse.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict its processing. You can change most of your information in the app. For anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
9. Children
WHB is strictly for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 and remove such accounts immediately. See our child safety standards.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; the date above will change. If changes are significant we will tell you in the app.
